Join the Humane Society at the Purses for Paws fundraiser

By on November 18, 2013

If you’ve ever wanted to help and donate to the Nebraska Humane Society, this week provides you with a great opportunity to do so while having some great fun, too. This Thursday, November 21, the Humane Society will hold their “Purses for Paws” fundraiser at Regency Court located just south of Westroads Mall in Omaha.

Among the festivities will be a silent auction, a number of raffles with great prizes, a designer showcase including some great looking and stylish purses, hors d’oeuvres, wine and much more. The best part of it all is that all proceeds go directly to the Humane Society and pets in need.

The 2013 Purses for Paws Honorary Chairdog is Patches Conine. Patches is a 7-year-old pup and was adopted from the Nebraska Humane Society by Sue Conine a year-and-a-half ago. The NHS Web site says Patches “loves people, is quite the escape artist and has an inside voice and an outside voice! Being at home with Sue is what Patches prefers to do on a daily basis! As Sue says, ‘Patches loves his forever home and I love Patches!'” Meeting Patches is just another great reason to come out Thursday night and enjoy the event.

The event will run from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at 120 Regency Parkway. Tickets are $30 and raffle tickets are $1 each or five for $20. Again, all proceeds go straight to the Humane Society, so feel free to go crazy and donate as much as you can afford to!

Here are some words from Pam Wiese, the Humane Society’s Vice President of public relations and marketing, about the importance of the event and why you should attend:

“Our Friends Forever guild puts this together—and they know how to make events sparkle.  It’s got something for everyone- from good wine and yummy munchies, the thrill of finding a great deal, a raffle for designer bags, and, of course, the fact that every penny goes right to the shelter to help animals.  All of the purses have been donated, so when we say that all the proceeds help the dogs and cats, we mean it.”

This event is sure to be fun and a great success for the Nebraska Humane Society.
