Special Adoption Fees happening now at NE Humane Society

By on September 5, 2017

The Nebraska Humane Society has a large facility, but even it can’t operate efficiently with the number of animals currently under the care of the shelter. And as the population is nearing a too-many-to-handle number, NHS is offering adoption fee reductions and even no-fee adoptions Wednesday, Sept. 6 through Friday, Sept. 8.

If you are looking to adopt, now would be a great time as the up-front cost will be lower than usual. Here’s what the shelter is saying on its Facebook page:

Breaking Mews: We are FULL! So starting Wednesday and ending Friday:

• Dogs 1 year and older will be $50 off
• Cats 6-11 months will be $25
• Cats 1 year and older will be FREE
• Adoptions start at noon
• We’ll stop taking adoption applications at 5:30 pm

If you live in the Omaha Metro you’ll need to pay the licensing fee. Please help spread the word. View all our available animals at www.nehumanesociety.org.

When events like this happen, there are many more people in the shelter than usual, so if you’re wanting to adopt, arrive as close to noon as you can. You’ll need to fill out some discovery documents and give a bit of information to the adoption counselor you could be working with. Also, make sure to leave enough time to act if you’re adopting; applications must be turned in before the 5:30 deadline.
