Foolproof Tips On Keeping Your House In Order With Pets
Approximately 67 percent of U.S households have a pet, according to the 2019-2020 APPA National Pet Owners Survey. Out of these households, 63.4 million households own a dog. This is not surprising, given that dogs can be trained to become part of the family. This begins with housebreaking a puppy so it can learn the rules in your household. After all, you don’t want your home to become topsy-turvy by allowing your pets to have free rein. Fortunately, there are a few tips that can help with keeping your home in order while having pets in your midst.
Invest In A High Quality Carpet Cleaner
Pets have a tendency to destroy carpets; it’s just in their nature. Unless they are seen destroying the carpet with their muddy paws in action and can be stopped, it can be difficult to get rid of the smell of urine, vomit, or other pet stains on a rug after the fact. Using traditional methods of cleaning a carpet may not be enough. This is why it is best to utilize a quality carpet cleaner that will get the job done. Since there plenty of different carpet cleaning machines to choose from, it is best to read reviews to know which ones are worth the investment and can be used in every room of the house.
Keep Dirt Outside
For homeowners who have a yard where their dogs tend to play in, it is always a good idea to keep a cloth near the door to wipe their paws with when the re-enter your home. Unless the dogs are washed prior to entering the home, wiping their paws down can prevent them from tracking mud and dirt all over the place. Carpet runners that are placed in high-traffic areas can also help reduce the amount of dirt being taken inside. The runners can then be vacuumed or dusted to remove any accumulated dirt.
Choose The Right Fabrics
Since pets become part of the family, they are typically given a spot in the house to sleep in. Dogs can sleep in their crates or cages, while others prefer to have their own beds. When it comes to choosing a bed for them to sleep on, make sure to consider the fabric. A leather or microfiber material can be wiped down easily, but if you prefer cloth materials, they will need to be washed regularly. This way, the smell and dirt will be minimized and the scent of the room that houses the bed won’t be affected.
Control Clutter
Dogs love to chew on toys, which is why most homeowners tend to go overboard with their playthings. Unfortunately, this can create quite a mess in the living room. To make any home clear of clutter, it is best to put these toys in a basket or box after playtime to reduce the chance of tripping and slipping on them. It’s even better if you can train your pet to return their toys in the appropriate box themselves, as this will teach them who’s the boss in the home.
Keeping your house in order when you have several pets in the family should not be difficult, especially when you follow these tips. Training your pet is always an essential part in keeping a house clean.
