In Case You Missed It – March 2018 Recap
Thousands of people read more than 300 of our stories in March (nearly three dozen of them brand new). If you missed any of the newest articles on Pets in Omaha, make sure to check out the March 2018 archives here.
Of those 300+ pages viewed, here are the ten most-visited of the month. Enjoy! And if you’d like to be alerted of new content, make sure you subscribe to Pets in Omaha (there’s a signup atop our homepage).
10. Helping Hand for Animals is hoping you’ll mark your calendar as it’s hosting a fundraiser at Boulder Creek Amusement Center in April. Proceeds will go towards helping a number of its long-term foster dogs.
9. One of our Pet Partners, Pets Earth, opened its second store this month! We were glad to attend the Grand Opening and even more glad the community showed up to say “thanks” to the wonderful, humane pet store.
8. Recently, someone penned an opinion paragraph that was published in the Omaha-World-Herald and it stated that rescue and shelter dogs are mostly dangerous. We, obviously, came to the defense of those animals and let the author of that opinion piece know his reasoning was both faulty and harmful.
7. Our Pet People features are always among the favorite posts of readers. For whatever reason, an interview we had with the Nebraska Humane Society’s Pam Wiese was read hundreds of times in March, even though the post is a couple of years old! If you haven’t read it, check it out- Pam is a great resource and we’re lucky to have her as a contributor to our site.
6. The pet licensing deadline was this month and many folks were looking for instructions on how to get legal and handled. The 2017 notes we wrote were read more than this year’s (huh?), but the information was generally the same, so… we hope we helped!
5. Speaking of Pet People, Malorie Maddox, WOWT-6 News’s anchor for the last decade-plus, retired from the news desk this month. Her Pet People story was one of the most-read in March and continues to be one of our top stories all-time.
4. Another Pet Person! This one is a new addition, and Ralston Mayor Don Groesser’s story was read a bunch in March. Read about the Groessers, including their newest addition, Zoey, a Husky-mix from the Nebraska Humane Society.
3. Pets in Omaha is the best place to find detailed information about many of the area’s top pet-related businesses. And the area’s sole cat-only grooming and boarding business, Grooming by Jenny, was a very well-read Pet Partner feature this month. Read about Jenny and her services here.
2. With over 850 articles published all-time, Pets in Omaha is likely your best stop for pet news and information related to Omaha, even for many outside of our area. Our homepage features a Category search which allows you to find just what you’re looking for from our vast archives. Find the tool in the top-right section of the homepage and filter stories at your leisure!
1. And while we’re pretty confident saying we’re the top area pet news and information site, we’re sure there’s no place people go more often than our Events page to see what’s happening around town each day. From meet and greets with rescues and shelters to fundraisers that support local animals and volunteers, we feature dozens of new events each month. Check out the top pet event resource around here.
Thanks for stopping by in March! We hope to see you in April and out in the community as event season ramps up. Happy Spring!
