Americans spend a lot of kibble on pets

By on March 13, 2014

According to a recently released study from the American Pet Products Association, Americans spend nearly $56 billion each year on pets. Wow.

The Association’s spokesperson recently said that the “humanization of pets and the many positive effects pets have on human health should keep the industry vibrant for many more years.”

When the Association started in 1996, spending nationwide was less than half of what it is today. Currently, about $21 billion of the recent number is spent on food for pets.
