Hefflinger Dog Park – Destination Doggie Fun

By on December 26, 2014

While out and about on this past and unseasonably warm Christmas day, we noticed many dog owners enjoying the sunshine and pleasant temps with their pups. Spring is right around the corner!

Ha. Well, when it does come, make sure you know about this place.  One the greatest places to enjoy the company of your dog, and that of other dogs and owners, is Omaha’s Hefflinger Dog Park.

Hefflinger Omaha Dog Park is the premier location for off leash dog socializing. With 7.5 acres of completely fenced land for pets to romp, it’s a great place for dogs and their owners alike to connect. Omaha’s Dog Parks have a nonprofit organization which helps improve this park and others. In 2015, we’re going to make an effort to figure out how we (and you) can help grow park options. As always, nonprofits are in need of donations to further enhance their efforts. The Omaha Dog Park Advocates also offer opportunities to volunteer for animal lovers who are so inclined.

Hefflinger is divided into two areas. One area is for the larger dogs and the other for dogs weighing under 30lbs. The “Petiquette,” or pet etiquette for the park’s use, is clearly stated on the dog park’s Web site, as are directions to the venue. It is encouraged that you check these rules out before you enter the gates. Before you visit the park, located just west of 108th and Maple in Omaha, make sure to check out the Omaha Dog Park’s Web site at omahadogpark.org.

We’ll keep up with the group and let you know how you can help and enjoy the city’s parks, so stay tuned.
