Hot Halloween Costume Ideas for you and your Pets

By on October 21, 2016

About one in every seven Americans say they’ll dress up their pets for Halloween this year according to a survey by the National Retail Federation. The most popular costumes for these pets are hot dogs, pumpkins, and bumblebees.

What’s interesting about this to us:

One, that’s a big number of people dressing their pets up. Yet another sign of how much we include our animals in our daily lives and celebrations. Secondly, aren’t there better get-ups that weiners, pumpkins and bumblebees? Yes.

The same survey indicated that for the first time in over a decade, princesses are not the No. 1 option for Halloween dress up. This year, superheroes and heroines are expected to top the list.

This year’s box office numbers can definitely back this idea up. Captain America, Batman, Superman, the Suicide Squad and more superhero movies have grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. So, if you are going as Iron Man or Harley Quinn, why not dress your pet as a sidekick of accessory to your superhero costume?

A couple of other interesting notes from the survey:

Halloween spending will top $8 billion this year.

The average American will spend over $70 on costumes.

Ten percent of Millenials will dress as someone from the “Batman World” this year.
