City of Omaha 2017 Pet Licensing Information

By on January 9, 2017

If you live in Omaha or three miles outside City limits and have dogs or cats, you should have received a form from the Nebraska Humane Society recently. It’s that time again- time to renew your pet licenses.

License fees are due by March 15, 2017 and you are required by law to license your pets. Failure to do so is a violation of city ordinances and carries fines, even jail time. You know you need to do it, so here’s the detail you need to do so.

Altered cats carry a license fee of $14.25. Altered dog, $27.25. If your pets aren’t altered, $52.25.

NEW IN 2017: ALL pet license transactions (including in-person payments made at the Nebraska Humane Society) will be subject to a $5/transaction processing fee.

Licensing fees may be paid a number of ways.

1. Send a check to The City of Omaha, PO BOX 641760, Omaha, NE 641760.

2. Visit and click the yellow “Pet Licensing Renewal” button on the right side of the screen.

3. Pay in person at the Nebraska Humane Society (89th and Fort) in Omaha. Here are some tips from the NHS.

Remember, March 15 is the deadline. Between March 16 and 31, city fees are doubled. After that, a $50 per pet late fee is due. Late fees can’t exceed $100/household, but don’t let it get that far.
