Clinton, IA Animal Shelter needs your help TODAY!
Update: The Clinton Humane Society has received donations from many concerned for the safety and happiness of animals. Here’s a statement from the CHS we at Pets In Omaha received:
“We are happy to report that donations are pouring in from all over. We want to thank you for all your help we really appreciate getting the word out. Our New furnace goes in tomorrow! Thank You.”
Thanks to those who donated and shared the story. The animals thank you!
The Clinton Humane Society is located in Clinton, Iowa, just about an hour from Iowa City. Being so close to Omaha and experiencing the same cold temperatures over the last few weeks, The HVAC unit in the shelter has worked very hard and recently died on them. This means animals are relying upon just blankets and space heaters to stay warm. It would be one thing if the daytime temperatures stayed “just warm enough” as they are now, but we all know that’s not the case. With the forecast including overnight lows below zero and winchills approaching -40 and -50, things are just plain bad for folks at the shelter.
That said; after hearing their story, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to reach out to all of the wonderful pet people in Omaha and around the country if we can possibly reach that far. Being a small shelter, the $12,000-$15,000 replacement HVAC unit can’t simply be purchased and installed at a moment’s notice. That’s where you come in.
“We are pleading with people,” says the shelter’s Executive Director Sandi Bartels. “We’d appreciate it greatly if people could donate whatever they can. Whether it’s $5 or $500, everything adds up. We’d like to thank anyone who donates in advance as we are in great need.”
A large donation would do the trick immediately, but Sandi is right- a couple hundred small donations can quickly turn into the funds needed, too. We urge you to do whatever you can to help the great people of the Clinton Humane Society and the animals who currently reside there in the frigid conditions.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Visit the Clinton Humane Society Web site here at www.clintonhumanesociety.org. Click on the Paypal link on the left or use any of the other donation functions. Make a note along with your donation saying your money goes towards the new HVAC unit.
2. Mail donations to the Gateway State Bank in Clinton, IA. The address is 1427 N. 2nd St., Clinton, IA 52732. Again, indicate that your donation should go to the HVAC fund at the Humane Society.
Our purpose here at Pets In Omaha has always been to help grow our animal and pet communities and this event does exactly that. Reach into your hearts and help people and animals in need. Thanks for your help from us at Pets In Omaha and from the Clinton Humane Society.
You can also donate for other purposes by visiting the Web site link above or find out more about the shelter on their Facebook page.
