Hot dogs are great, but not this kind

By on August 11, 2016

Many of us love the hot weather, but it brings with it its own set of problems, especially for our faithful canine companions. The trouble is, they simply can’t handle the heat! They can’t sweat like we do – only through their paws – and so they pant in order to keep cool. However, if it’s too hot, they can’t cool down fast enough and can develop heatstroke, which can be fatal very quickly.

We all know how hot cars can get in summer – you only have to get in your car during a hot day and you’re overwhelmed with the heat, so imagine what it’s like for dogs.

This infographic from Ignitionline shows just how horrific it can be for dogs left in cars, as well as showing just how hot cars can get in such a short space of time, and what to do if you see a dog trapped in a car.   It’s all stuff we’d hope people know by know, but judging by the news stories we see every year about this kind of thing, it’s an issue that clearly still needs awareness. Take a look at the graphic below.
