Get Ready to Give during Omaha Gives! 2018
Since Pets in Omaha has been around, it’s been active in promoting the wonderful, online giving period that is Omaha Gives! This 24-hour fundraiser always proves important for area shelters, rescues, and animal advocacy groups, so we’re eager to tell you how you can participate in 2018! For donors, see the information below! And if you can’t donate, visit omahagives.org to see what you can do to spread the word (like use the Omaha Gives social media banners to raise awareness)!
What is Omaha Gives!?
Omaha Gives! is a year-round online giving platform organized by the Omaha Community Foundation to grow philanthropy in Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties. Each year, there is a 24-hour online giving event in May to celebrate nonprofits. This year’s giving day will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24-hours to give as much as possible to support the work of public 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the metro area. The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum. Prizes and challenge funds amplify charitable donations to make each dollar go further. Search profiles of participating nonprofits and track progress during the event on our leaderboard. Last year, the community raised over $7.8 million for local nonprofits. You can schedule your donation anytime in May, but the 24-hour official period is on May 23.
How can I donate?
All donations will be processed through this website. In order to participate, nonprofits must meet our eligibility requirements and will be required to register in early 2018. For more details, please read the Frequently Asked Questions. You can view 2017 results here and results from previous years on omahafoundation.org.
1. Find the charity you’d like to donate to on omahagives.org.
2. Click the “Give” button.
3. Fill in the text fields that ask for your donation amount, whether your gift should be recurring, whether you’d like to make it in honor of someone, whether you’d like to be anonymous, whether you’re a first-time donor, and whether you’ve got a promo code that allows your donation to be matched in some way.
4. Continue on to your cart and prescribe your means of donation.
Over 1000 nonprofits and fundraisers are participating in 2018; over are 50 are animal-related charities you can help. If you’d like to see a list of the animal-related charities participating in Omaha Gives! 2018, click here. There will be a link right there to donate!
